Kingstown (One News St. Vincent) – Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves has admonished mini bus operators to be sensitive on the matter of overcrowding on buses and to cease doing so forthwith.
The Prime Minister, while giving a national update on the government’s Covid-19 response said mini buses must be sanitized and cleaned on an ongoing basis to militate against the possibility of spreading the virus.
“You have to clean the seats, you have to wipe them down, wipe off the handle, you have to keep the place clean” – Dr. Gonsalves said.
“You may say well, the Prime Minister is talking but what can he do…. there are things we can do and you won’t be on the road. I don’t want to do that, I want us to cooperate with one another. This is an open, free and democratic society. I want us to build consensus among all these things because I don’t want a heavy hand, I want us all to be responsible and we work sensibly in going forward”, the Prime Minister added.
The Prime Minister also urged passengers to act sensibly to protect themselves given the requisite of personal or social distancing and the practice of good hygiene in the fight against Covid-19.
