St. Vincent and the Grenadines Special Olympic team is scheduled to return to St Vincent and the Grenadines today, following the closing of the Special Olympics World Games 2023 in Berlin, Germany last Sunday.
In a press release today (June 28), the Special Olympic team secured four (4) silvers, two (2) bronze along with a number of ribbons.
The medalists Natasha Doyle, as she obtained a silver in female tennis singles, Andrick Arthur and Teron Hull Silver in doubles tennis. Krista Bynoe as she obtained a silver in the 50m Backstroke, and a bronze in the 25 meter breaststroke for swimming. Jason Williams secured a bronze in the men’s 100m, the press release stated.
The ribbon winners are Jason Williams, as he secured 4th place in 200m, Natasha Doyle and Utica Smith fifth place in doubles tennis. Presley Peters, on his first rodeo finished 6th in the men’s 100m, the press release further stated.
The Special Olympics World Games is said to offer athletes the opportunity to unite the world with people with and without disabilities, different nations, cultures, political views and religions so they can meet and overcome existing prejudices with the power of sport.
Representatives from over 180 countries competed in some 26 sports.
