There was some contention today (August 3) within some circles on social media following a news report out of Grenada on the ‘Headways Challenge’ there.
The contention was not over the challenge which medical professionals in St. Vincent and Grenada have warned people not to participate in.
Instead, the contention surrounded whether or not Vincentian – Esron Y. Spielberg received credit for his song – Headways when the song was featured in a news report with references made only to Grenada’s Lavaman.
Grenada’s national carnival – Spicemas is currently in season. According to Spicemas Corporation, the festival runs from August 1st – 15th, this year.
A version of the song featuring Lavaman is popular there.
Some people on social media said they believed that the Grenadian news report did not recognize Esron Y. Spielberg, the original singer of the song – Headways which made waves here in the recently concluded Vincy Mas and placed third in the Road March competition.
But the contention seemed to have died down after an official remix between both artistes was found on YouTube.
