The Archery Association of St. Vincent & the Grenadines hosted their 1st National Championship Tournament this past weekend at the Sir Vincent Beache Stadium at Diamond. This new, up and coming Olympic sport has seen steady growth since their launch in October 2021.

This historic event saw a total of seventeen (17) archers (ranging from age 14 – 71) competing in three (3) main categories over a 2-day period. The three categories were the “Mens 30M Open” & the “Womens 30M Open” both shooting at an 80cm target face… and the “Beginners 20M Shoot” on a 122cm target face.

Day 1 of this exciting event saw the 30M qualifying rounds which would eventually set the ranking order for the match play elimination round on the 2nd day, along with the 20M beginner shoot.
Upon the close of Day 1, the 20M Beginner Category (shooting 36 arrows) was completed with the six competing archers putting on a good showing. The final results for this category saw the following winners:
1st Place – Rayan Clarke 2nd Place – Keon Pope
3rd Place – GianCarlo Tiezzi
In the more advanced 30M categories, all archers had to shoot two rounds of 36 arrows under the scorching heat of the day. Upon conclusion of this round, everyone was able to post their qualifying scores thus setting up a much anticipated elimination bracket for Day 2.

The match play eliminations of day 2 showed the skills of our archers as they gave it their all to put on a great display of skill and mental focus. Eventually, after a fun filled day of archery, we were able to crown our winners in both categories. They are:
MALE OPEN 30M
1st Place – Jared Nichols 2nd Place – Quincy Primus 3rd Place – Sanjay Jiandani
FEMALE OPEN 30M
1st Place – Marese Burgin 2nd Place – Richol Richards 3rd Place – Divya Jiandani
