GHS, Grammar School & St. Martins Secondary capture top 3 positions in 2023 CSEC exams

The St. Vincent and the Grenadines Girls’ High School – GHS, the St. Vincent Grammar School, and the St. Martins Secondary School have taken the top three positions in the 2023 Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate exams.

In the overall school results released today (September 28), the GHS attained the highest pass rate of 98.84 percent.

The GHS, a single-sex all-girls’ school usually achieves the highest pass rate on an annual basis.

The St. Grammar School, a single-sex all-boys’ school and the nation’s oldest secondary school achieved a pass rate of 93.32 percent.

The Catholic-run single-sex all-boys’ St. Martins Secondary School achieved a pass rate of 93.17 percent.

The only other school to have achieved a pass rate of over 90 percent is the Thomas Saunders Secondary School with 92.76 percent.

The Canouan Secondary School, the St. Joseph’s Convent Kingstown, and the Bequia Seventh Day Adventist School attained pass rates of 89.86 percent, 89.72 percent, and 86.73 percent, respectively.

Seven (7) schools attained passes between 60 and 80 percent, based on the results.

Though students across the country were able to access their individual results for this year’s sitting of the Caribbean Examinations Council’s CSEC exams, the release of the overall results was delayed due to issues with CXC, the Ministry of Education in St. Vincent and the Grenadines announced earlier.
