Central Leeward and Troumaca win 2023 Inter-Secondary School Road Relay

The Central Leeward Secondary School Girls’ Team has retained their title after winning the 2023 Inter-Secondary Schools’ Road Relay.

For the boys, the Troumaca Secondary School finished first in record time.

The relay was held today (October 12). It started at Peruvian Vale and ended at the Administrative Building at the Arnos Vale Sporting Complex. The race consisted of six legs.

This is the third consecutive time the Central Leeward girls are winning the competition. Today, they ran a total time of 1 hour 17 minutes and 29.00 seconds.

The second place position for girls was taken by Troumaca Ontario Secondary School in a time of 1 hour and 20 minutes and 13.00 seconds while third place went to the St. Vincent Girls’ High School in a time of 1 hour and 22 minutes and 34 seconds.

In the boys category, Troumaca Ontario Secondary won the race in a new record time of 52 minutes and 22.20 seconds. The record set last year of 52 minutes and 58.10 seconds was set by Georgetown Secondary School.

In second position for the boys was the St. Martins Secondary School in a time of 52 minutes and 45. 90 seconds while third place was taken by the Petit Bordel Secondary School in a time of 53 minutes and 57.60 seconds.

Points for the top eight schools in the relay will go towards their score for the 2024 National Lotteries Authority Inter-Secondary School sports.

Eighteen points will go to the winners, 16 to second place, 14 points to 3rd place, 12 to fourth place, and counties in descending order to the eight place team.

The Cross Country Race event will take place next week at the Tarmac of the decommissioned E.T. Joshua Airport at Arnos Vale. At this event, runners from several schools will run over uneven terrain.
