There will be an increase in minimum wages paid to workers as of January 2024.
But the increase will be consequent upon the full review of the report from the Wages Council which is currently in progress.
Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves made the announcement during his Independence address at Victoria Park on October 27.
The current minimum wages vary according to occupation and sector.
More information is expected to be delivered in the 2024 Budget Address which is expected to be delivered in late December 2023/early January 2024.
The move will touch both private and public sector workers.
The announcement is one of 16 other announcements the prime minister made during the 2023 Independence address.
