Air Canada resumed flights to St. Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) today (October 11).
The airline mainly operates non-stop flights into SVG’s Argyle International Airport (AIA) from Canada’s Pearson International Airport during the winter season.
The airline confirmed in March 2023 that it had temporarily suspended flights to SVG.
According to an article published by Searchlight Newspaper in April 2023, “the decision of Air Canada not to return to St Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) until November is not because of a lack of demand for flights but has more to do with a new Canadian law,” the SVG Tourism Authority explained.
“Let me make this clear from the start. St Vincent and the Grenadines is not the only country in this position. St Vincent and the Grenadines, Grenada, St Lucia, and Antigua and Barbuda are suffering from the same fate when it comes to Air Canada,” then Chief Executive Officer of the SVGTA, Glen Beache said at a press conference on April 6.
For this season, the airline is offering three (3) weekly flights from October 30 to December 10, 2023. The operation days are Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays.
The airline is then scheduled to offer four (4) weekly flights from December 11, 2023, to April 30, 2024.
Those flights will operate on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.
The airline is then scheduled to operate two weekly flights from May 8, 2024, to June 6, 2024.
Air Canada Rouge made its inaugural flight to St. Vincent on Thursday, December 14, 2017, some ten months after the Argyle International Airport opened.
