Vincentian social activist – Ms. Denise Stephens-Dublin has represented the interests of Caribbean people at the III Conference of Dilemmas of Humanity.
The objective of the conference which had both a regional and a global edition was to have discussions and build “consensus among movements, political parties, trade unions, intellectuals, artists and other organisations of social sectors on the immediate strategies needed to overcome the civilization crisis that we are experiencing today and for the construction of socialism as our emancipatory horizon,” the organizers said.
Ms. Dublin attended the regional edition of the Regional Conference on Dilemmas of Humanity from September 1st – 4th in Santiago, Chile.
The regional leg of the conference was held “as we commemorate the 50th anniversary of the coup d’etat against the Popular Unity government and the assassination of our dear Comrade, President Salvador Allende in 1973, which we know was a turning point for our region,” the organisers said.
Ms. Stephens was selected to participate as a representative of Solidarity Group of Saint Vincent & the Grenadines.
She also attended the global edition of the III Dilemmas of Humanity Conference | International Conference that took place from 14 – 18 October 2023 at Constitution Hill, 11 Kotze Road, Braamfontein, Johannesburg, South Africa.
There, she attended on the invitation of Pan Africa Today NPC, a non-profit organisation which says its primary goal is to build unity across the African continent to ensure prosperity for all African people – especially those on the peripheries of our society.
While in South Africa, Ms. Stephens spoke to delegates about using culture as an instrument for Solidarity, a language that would be understood by persons of every nation.
She also spoke about the initiatives that are being taken by Solidarity SVG, such as empowering persons in struggle and engaging vulnerable women and youth to learn ways to integrate.
