“Chairperson of the pageant’s committee, Miss SVG 2022 1st Runner-Up, Miss Jaycees 2022 2nd Runner-Up and current BSc Nursing year-three student, Shadyn McLean, says the show presents a platform to highlight the multifaceted nature of student nurses and nursing professionals in general, as well as an opportunity for current students to become more involved in extracurricular activities, which will assist in their planning, multitasking, and networking abilities,” the press release stated.

In the leadup to the pageant contestants will also engage in a “People First” community initiative, focusing on sexual health education in schools.

Chairperson McLean said “As nursing students and members of the community we know this is an area that can use additional support. Statistics show sexual health remains one of the things that requires a collective effort to improve and sex education goes a long way in helping us make informed decisions”.
