BREAKING: Another man shot and killed in Layou

Less than two weeks after the fatal shooting of Tambu Patrick, 31, of Layou, another man has been shot and killed in the Central Leeward town.

Tonight, November 18, 2023, a man was shot and killed.

Reports are that the man goes by the name of Leon Gaymes.

He reportedly died while being transported to the hospital.

The circumstances surrounding the man’s death are unclear, but residents say multiple gunshots were heard sometimes after 8:00 p.m.

His killing marks the 48th homicide recorded in St. Vincent and the Grenadines so far for 2023, an unprecedented number.

The November 5 killing:

Police say they have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death of Tambu Patrick, a 31-year-old Labourer of Layou.

In a release, the Royal St. Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force – RSVGPF said Patrick was fatally shot on Sunday, November 5, 2023, at about 7:31 p.m. in Ruthland Vale, Layou.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the Layou Police Station received a report about the incident sometime after 7:00 pm. and promptly responded to the scene, the RSVGPF said.

On arrival at the scene, Patrick’s lifeless body was discovered with what appeared to be multiple gunshot wounds allegedly perpetrated by masked assailant(s) wearing a facemask, the release stated.
