Plans are being put in place to construct a new jetty at Troumaca Bay in North Leeward as tourism expands in St. Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG).
Tourism Minister and area representative for North Leeward – Hon. Carlos James told One News SVG that the plans are currently being discussed through a World Bank project.
The move comes after the refurbishment of the Cumberland Jetty which promotes ease of access from sea to land for yacht arrivals and fisherfolk plying their trade.
“The refurbished Cumberland Jetty, serves as an important docking point for marine operators and visitors to the southern point of the Eco-rich North Leeward tourism belt,” Minister James told One News SVG.
“Following the rehabilitation of the jetty at Cumberland, decked fully in greenheart wood, another will be constructed at Troumaca Bay,” Minister James said.
The move comes as North Leeward is experiencing expansions in several other areas such as Technical and Vocational Education and Training – TVET, financial services, and eco-tourism offerings.
