Kruz still unable to talk, walk 2 years after Boxing Day accident

Two years after being struck by a motor vehicle on the main road at Langley Park, 13-year-old Kruz Lowman is still unable to walk or talk.

On December 26, 2021, then 11 years old, Kruz was riding his bike with friends on the main road in Langley Park when he was struck by a motor vehicle.

According to reports, the motor vehicle was trying to overtake another vehicle when the incident occurred.

That unfortunate event had left Kruz in a coma.

Two years later, Kruz is at home and being looked after by his family.

His family and friends say they are still perturbed by the incident.

“Well it’s not an easy task taking care of him on a daily basis, but I have to take care of him as his mother,” Eunatlie Bowens told One News SVG today (December 27).

She said: “He can’t talk to tell me if he is in pain. I have to pay close attention to him to know If he is comfortable or not,” his mother told One News SVG.

The distraught mother said the financial burden from the incident is great, but she is more worried about her son’s condition.

“He wears pampers I have to buy medications and his feed is only liquids. In other words, you have to blend everything,” she said.

“I must say he moves a lot and he gives slow responses, especially with his eyes,” she said, adding that “He still visits the Modern Medical Hospital frequently because of seizures, cold, and fever.”

“And he has a feeding tube placed at his stomach,” Ms. Bowens said.

She said: “Any little help would go a long way. He wears pampers that stick (not the pull-ups) and he wears medium adult size”.

She said: “As his mother I am depressed, frustrated but I am not giving up and I would not leave his side”.

“I can continue to pray and trust in God for that he grant him a second chance at life,” she added

According to his mother, Kruz seems to be making some progress.

“I visit Modern Medical too because he normally pulls out his feeding tube very often which shows how strong he is and that he is aware that something is by his stomach,” his mother said.

“He scratches his head; he moves hand and foot very often by himself too, and he drinks Ensure and Supligen,” she added.

She said she would continue to try her best to care for her son.
