An International Music Festival will be hosted in St. Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) in October this year for the first time.

It will be called the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Music Festival.

The announcement was made today (January 23) by Minister of Tourism, Civil Aviation, Sustainable Development and Culture, Honourable Carlos James during his State of the Tourism Industry Address.

Mr. James said that with the expected increase in visitor arrivals and the additional airlines to the destination, the time is ripe for the launching of the St. Vincent and the Grenadines’ Music Festival.

“Following on the heels of the success of the One Family concert…it is time we create a global platform for our local creatives, allowing them to share the stage with international artiste and performers,” Minister James said.

Minister James said that the international music festival will drive more visitors to the destination as the island prepares for year-round flights and tourism arrivals.

In the past, St. Vincent and the Grenadines has hosted a Rhythm and Blues Festival, but Minister James said the international music festival will see a greater level of involvement from local creatives as part of the programme.
