Bequia Family who lost everything says thanks to public for support

Despite the significant loss of their two-story house by a fire in December 2023, a family in Bequia is expressing gratitude to the public for the support they have received so far.

Petrona John and family of Paget Farm, Bequia issued a statement today (January 28) expressing gratitude.

“My family and I want to express our heartfelt appreciation to everyone who has come to our assistance since our devastating fire on December 30th, in which we lost everything that we had owned,” the family said in a statement.

“As we continue to slowly recover and put the pieces together, we have been fortunate and blessed by the tremendous outpouring of love and support of all types. in ways that we could not have imagined,” the family said.

“So many people reached out immediately after, providing assistance however they could, and many continue to check on us,” the family said.

The immediate household who lost everything in the December 30 fire include Petrona, her husband, their two young children, and Petrona’s brother.

They are currently living at another dwelling house in Bequia which belongs to their relatives while they try their best to rebuild the house that was destroyed by the fire..

“We’re truly thankful to our amazing neighbors, emergency and security services, healthcare providers, persons from across the wider Paget Farm/Bequia/St. Vincent and the Grenadines community both at home and abroad, volunteer organizations including Red Cross and Rise Bequia, elected and unelected representatives, churches, business places, relatives and friends,” the family said.

“Apologies if we unintentionally excluded anyone in this listing, but be assured that all of your support – in whatever way it was extended – has been invaluable,” they added.

“Because of all of you, we are managing ok in the circumstances and recovering day by day.
We pray that you and your loved ones remain forever blessed,” the John family said.
