Three officers of the Royal St. Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force (RSVGPF) have been suspended over the alleged abuse of a 10-year-old boy.

In a press release this evening (January 30) the Royal St. Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force (RSVGPF) said that on Tuesday 30th January 2024, Acting Commissioner of Police, Mr. Enville Williams suspended the three (3) police officers from duty.

“The officers include one (1) Corporal and two (2) Constables who are the subjects of interest in an allegation of the abuse of a 10-year-old boy,” the release said.

“The officers would receive half pay pending the outcome of an investigation, the release stated.

“Anyone with information that can assist the investigation is encouraged to contact the Calliaqua Police Station at 1-784-458-4200, Police Emergency at 911/99, or any police station or officer you are comfortable speaking with. Information received would be treated confidentially,” the release added.

On January 28, a video was posted on social media in which a woman claimed that her 10-year-old son was arrested by police over a bike and was beaten.

The woman alleged that the incident took place at the Stubbs Police Station, and that it happened outside of her presence or her knowledge.

Police say they have launched an investigation into the matter and that they do not condone such actions by members of the police force.
