Investigations Launched Into Suspected Drowning

The police in Spring Village district are investigating the circumstances surrounding a suspected drowning that occurred on Wednesday 31st January 2024 at Cumberland Bay. The incident claimed the life of Devon Morgan, alias “Sleepy”, a 33 – year old Fisherman of Barrouallie.

According to preliminary investigations, about 12:25pm, police at the Spring Village Police Station received a telephone report that stated someone had drowned at Cumberland Bay. In a press release by the Royal St. Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force (RSVGF) on February 1, 2024, it was said that upon arrival at the scene, they met a male lying on the shore of Cumberland Bay in an unresponsive state and surrounded by bystanders.

Reports further suggest that Morgan was among a group of persons who were fishing in the water of Cumberland Bay. Other fishers rendered assistance, pulled Morgan out of the water, and performed CPR on him with success.
