Police investigating Feb 7 Green Hill homicide

The Major Crime Unit (MCU) of the Royal St. Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force (RSVGPF) says it has launched an investigation into a shooting incident that has resulted in the death of Khalique Rock, a 27-year-old Labourer of Green Hill.

Police said in a February 8 press release that the incident occurred about 7:28 p.m. on Wednesday 7th February 2024 in Green Hill.

The event marked the fourth homicide recorded in SVG for 2024.

In the release, police said: “Preliminary investigations revealed that at the time of the fatal shooting, Rock was socializing with a group of friends in front of his house when two (2) assailants with guns approached and fired several shots at them. Rock was shot multiple times on his body and was later pronounced deceased by a medical practitioner at the scene”.

“The crime scene was processed by the Crime Scene Unit (CSU) and items of evidential value were collected,” police said.

“A postmortem examination is expected to be carried out on the body to ascertain the exact cause of death,” police said.

The RSVGPF said it extends condolences to all who are negatively affected by this incident.

“Anyone with information that can assist the police with this investigation is encouraged to contact the Major Crime Unit at 1-784-457-1211 ext. 4816; Police Emergency at 911/999, or any police station or police officer you are comfortable speaking with,” police said.

“Any information received would be treated confidentially. Investigations into the matter are ongoing,” police said.
