Leeward man charged for trying to ship drugs to the Grenadines

Police say that on March 22, 2024 they arrested and charged Shelton Hooper, a 34 year old Labourer of Petit Bordel for drug related matters.

In a press release issued on March 26, police said investigations revealed that on the date in questioned, the accused attempted to convey seven hundred and sixty three (763) grams of Cannabis to one of the Grenadines Islands with intent to supply to another.

“He was also charged for Possessionof a Controlled Drug for the purpose of Drug Trafficking. The incident occurred on the 22.3.2024 about 12:45 pm at the Grenadines Wharf,” police said in the release.

“Hooper appeared before the Kingstown Magistrate Court on the 25th March 2024 and pleaded guilty to both charges,” police said in the release.

“He was reprimanded and discharged for the Drug Trafficking offence and fined $ 800.00 EC to be paid in one (1) month for the Possession of Control Dugs, in default he will spend three months in prison,” police said.
