The Royal Saint Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force (RSVGPF) said today (April 16) that two bodies found in Park Hill suffered chop wounds before being burnt.

“A post-mortem examination was conducted on Thursday, April 11, 2024, at the Kingstown Mortuary. The examination revealed that both men sustained multiple chop wounds and extensive thermal injuries. It was determined that both victims were deceased prior to being burned,” police said in the release.

On April 8, 2024, Police discovered two partially burned bodies near the Park Hill Playing Field. The deceased have been identified as Brenton Barker and Kelvert “Vert” Smart, both residents of Park Hill. A thorough investigation led to the arrest and formal charging of Aldon Thomas, also from Park Hill, with the murders of Mr. Barker and Mr. Smart. The alleged offenses occurred between April 6 and April 9, 2024, within the second magisterial district of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. It is alleged that Mr. Thomas, with malice aforethought, unlawfully caused the deaths of Mr. Barker and Mr. Smart by an unlawful act, contravening Chapter 171, Section 159, subsection 1 of the revised edition of the laws of SVG, 2009, police said.

The RSVGPF said it gave the update as part of their commitment to keep the public informed about significant developments in ongoing investigations.

The Royal Saint Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force said it continues its rigorous investigation into this heinous crime and ensures that all evidence is meticulously analyzed to serve justice. Anyone with information is urged to contact Police Emergency at 999/911, the Criminal Investigations Department at 784-456-1810, the Georgetown Police Station 784-458-6229 or the Colonarie Police Station 784-458-6250. All information received will be treated with the highest level of confidentiality.
