In 2021 during the Covid-19 Pandemic, Shennika Shallow-Simmons was bored and decided to search online for some resin keyrings. A few years later she is exporting keyrings she made herself.
She said one of her best sales so far has been satisfying an order of 30 of her SVG Island shape souvenir keyrings from a customer in the USA.
Her business is called SSS, representing the three S’s in her name.
In an April 16 interview, Shennika shared with One News SVG how her business – SSS all began and how it is going.

1. How did you get into craft?
It was during Covid-19, so I couldn’t get to socialize much or part take in any acting role. So, one day I was browsing online and saw some resin keyrings popped up, and I said: “These look nice. Maybe I should order one”. I went looking online but just couldn’t decide which one I wanted as I was wishing for each I chose to be a little different. So, I said: “Man I’m sure I could make my own because God blessed me with two creative hands. So, I began my research on the product and then I ordered and began making my own.
2. Why did you decide to turn your craft-making into a business?
After making and posting pictures, people started to like and inquire. Then all of a sudden people start asking what’s the price. And so because the products used aren’t cheap I decided well I love the new crafting, so why not turn my hobby into a business? And that’s exactly how this became a business venture.

3. Describe your worst business days?
The worst days were actually in the beginning making the keyrings as I was still investing and testing different products to get better results. As I like to produce quality work over quantity. Sometimes, the products wouldn’t cure properly, or would crack. If rain poured they take longer to or may not cure which if default causes me a lot of money
4. Who are your main customers?
Both Tourists and locals.
5. With the expansions happening in tourism, what future do you see for your craft business and the craft industry?
To have them (the products) be exported and be able to have them be sold on well-known websites.

6. Describe your range of products
SSS Specializes in handmade resin products: souvenirs, Alphabet, photos, self-defense, license plate keyrings, memorabilia, and plaques.
We also do t-shirt printing, customization personalization, or basically anything. We offer Gliterized glasses and engraving.
7. Describe yourself. Who are you as a business person and outside of business?
I like to say I am my Brand. Everywhere I go, I represent SSS. I am a creative multi-talented individual, and a professional actress, who loves to sing, and host games and events. I always work and most of all, I make the room lighter by creating laughter.
