The company said the presentation took place at Tropical Shipping’s conference room on April 15th where Kerwin Hinson, Sales Representative of Tropical Shipping presented the cheque to Stephan Hornsey, Manager of SVG Environment Fund.

“Hornsey thanked Tropical Shipping and underscored his organization’s commitment to preserving the natural beauty and biodiversity of St. Vincent & the Grenadines,” the company said.

“He explained how the donation would enable SVG Environment Fund to expand its programs, conduct vital research and implement initiatives aimed at ensuring the survival and thriving of turtle populations in the region,” the company added.

The company said: Maxine Howard, Sales Manager of Tropical Shipping said “through this collaboration, Tropical Shipping is demonstrating its corporate responsibility and contributing to the long term health of the local ecosystem whilst reaffirming its dedication to environmental stewardship and sustainabilityby actively supporting the protection of marine life on the island. We are proud to support this mission to conserve and protect the natural environment of St. Vincent & the Grenadines”.

“By joining forces with SVG Environment Fund Tropical Shipping is honoring its commitment to island life by supporting the preservation of our oceans and marine life for future generations and safeguard turtles that call these waters home,” the company said.

In the wake of increased global threats to sea turtles, the government of St. Vincent and the Grenadines imposed a total ban on the killing of sea turtles and the harvesting of their eggs.

The total ban came into effect on January 1, 2017.
