More Communities Added to CWSA’s Water Rationing List as Dry Spell Continues

The State-run Central Water and Sewage Authority – CWSA announced today (May 11) that water rationing will be extended to more communities as dry conditions worsen in thr country.

In an announcement on its official Facebook page, the CWSA said: “Due to the worsening rainfall and river flow conditions, it has become necessary for the following communities to be added to the rationing schedule for the Montreal Water Source.”

“From tonight, Saturday May 11th,2024, nightly shut down will commence from 8:00 pm to 5:00 am. The affected communities are; Maroon Hill, Belvedere, Brighton, Harmony Hall, Prospect, Ratho Mill, and Choppins,” the CWSA said.

The CWSA also announced that three (3) of its major water catchment systems have been severely impacted by the drought conditions.

“The Central Water and Sewerage Authority (CWSA) has observed a reduction in river flows and by extension, the volume of water available for harvesting from three of its major water sources; Dalaway, Montreal and Majorca,” the CWSA said.

“Water Rationing schedules have already been implemented for communities supplied from the Dalaway and Montreal sources, and we wish to inform that rationing has become necessary for more communities supplied from the Dalaway Water Wource, commencing today, Saturday May 11*2024, from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm and from 8:00 pm to 5:00 am. This schedule will continue DAILY until conditions improves,” the CWSA said.

“Additionally, communities being supplied from the Majorca water source are asked to note that rationing will begin today, from 8:00 pm to 5:00 am, and will continue daily until further notice.

The current rationing schedule for the communities supplied by the Montreal system remains in effect (that is from 8:00 pm to 5:00 am and from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm),” the State-run body said.
