Social and political activist from North Windward – Dyke Cato has died.
According to reports, Mr. Cato died today after battling with illness. He was in his forties.
His death has come as a shock to many including those who supported a recent fundraiser held to support his medical intervention.
Mr. Cato’s contribution spans political activism and sports development in the North Windward constituency and throughout St. Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG).

Mr. Cato was known for his humanitarian work during the post and pre-eruption period of the La Soufriere volcano including evacuating many persons and distributing supplies.
He was also a critical member of Rise Up OTR Inc., an organization dedicated to uplifting people in North Windward.
Many people and organisations including the Unity Labour Party North Windward have started to express their condolences.

“Our very own Dyke Cato served with distinction and dedication as a critical part of our executive team, and on behalf of the Unity Labour Party, we also mourn and offer our sincere sympathies to his family, friends, and North Windward at large,” the ULP North Windward said in a Facebook post today.
“Dyke will be cherished for his steadfast adherence to the principles and objectives of serving the country. We are praying during this trying time for everyone who knew and loved him. Rest in Peace to a father, brother, a friend, a son, a dedicated and hardworking man, our beloved comrade. Until we meet again,” the post added.
Mr. Cato was also a public servant working at the Department of Sports as a Sports Officer.
