The top female performer in the 2024 Caribbean Primary Exit Assessment – CPEA said she would like to see an eradication of world hunger.

Shaya Altidor, 11, from the St. Mary’s Roman Catholic School, placed first for girls and sixth overall based on the preliminary CPEA 2024 results.

Hailing from the agriculture-rich South Leeward community of Vermont, she was born to St. Lucian father Alex Altidor and Vincentian mother – Sherlon Altidor.

She recorded an average score of 96.20 percent in the CPEA.

The young lady who said she is currently thinking about being a singer or an actress said eradicating hunger is dear to her heart.

“ I can’t imagine how it would feel to be hungry for days or even weeks, and it’s painful to imagine that millions of people from around the world have no food,” she said.

“In the future, I would love to be involved in organisations and activities that work diligently to eradicate world hunger,” she added.

Shaya’s mother Mrs. Altidor also spoke to One News SVG and shared how she helped to prepare her daughter for the CPEA.

“The first principle we shared with Shaya was the importance of building her life with God as her foundation. Then, we chose a good school; cooperated with the teachers; assisted with her studies, and ensured she participated in extra curricular activities,” Mrs. Altidor said.

Shaya encouraged students preparing to sit the CPEA in the future to practice a lot of past papers, study smart and hard, and avoid distractions.

She expressed thanks to God, her parents, her church community, and her teachers for helping her so far.
