Losing to England by one run in the Super 8 was a huge blow to West Indies’ chances of reaching the ICC Men T20 World Cup semi-finals, but losing to South Africa last night was the ultimate death blow.
In a rain-affected match in Antigua, the West Indies’ campaign to advance to the semi-finals of the World Cup ended.
The co-hosts batted first and scored 135/8 off 20 overs. Due to rain, the Duckworth–Lewis–Stern method was used and South Africa’s target was reset to 123 to win from 17 overs.
South Africa surpassed the target making 124/7 off 16.1 overs.

The news of West Indies’ loss was felt hard by some of their supporters especially since the co-hosts led a strong campaign in the Group Stage, winning all four of their matches.
In the Super Eight, the Windies lost to England, won against the USA, and lost against South Africa.
The final Super 8 match will see Afghanistan taking on Bangladesh at Arnos Vale in St Vincent and the Grenadines at 8:30 p.m., Atlantic Standard Time.
The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup is being hosted by the West Indies and the USA.

“The first semi-final of the tournament is set to be held at the Brian Lara Cricket Stadium in Trinidad and Tobago. Meanwhile, the second semi-final will be held at the Providence Stadium in Guyana,” Sporting News reports.
“The final of the competition is scheduled to be held at the Kensington Oval Stadium in Barbados on June 29th,” Sporting News reports.
