Members of some communities are unable to store pipe-borne water as their supply has been restricted for hours.
One News SVG can confirm that some communities have been without pipe-borne water for as many as 12 hours with no response even as they try to prepare for the passage of Category 4 Hurricane Beryl.
Residents of Simon/New Prospect, some residents of Buccament and Layou, parts of Barrouallie and some sections of the Marriaqua Valley do not have pipe-bourne water.
On its current trajectory, Beryl is expected to hit St. Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) on Monday morning (July 1).
Some of the affected residents told One News SVG that they contacted the Central Water and Sewage Authority about the issue the CWSA was aware of the situation.
One News SVG contacted the CWSA to verify the reports and the reports turned out to be true.
The CWSA’s lines have not been turned off, but water pressure is low in some areas due to many persons increasing their usage in preparation for the impending hurricane.
There have been reports of persons in some communities washing down their yards and engaging in other excessive usage of water contributing to the low pressure which leaves some communities without water.
It is unclear if there are plans to ration water to the affected areas as the 7:00 p.m. national shutdown approaches.
The CWSA’s emergency contact number is 1 784 457-1445.
