Debra Stephen Frederick left home on Saturday, July 13th, 2024, to attend her brother’s funeral with the company of her husband – Obourne Frederick. Little did they know that destruction would come rolling to their home.

The funeral service of Debra’s brother Sinclair Anderson was about to begin when the news came that a boulder from the hills rolled down and destroyed part of their property located at Glebe Hill, Barrouallie.

Frederick and other well wishers left the funeral to make an assessment of the damage. Frederick-Stephen’s brother who traveled from Canada to St. Vincent for the funeral was the occupant of the room that was destroyed by the boulder. Fortunately, he was not there, and no one was at home at the time of the incident.

Family members say the boulder landed on a bed in one of the bedrooms. A dresser, television, and closet were also damaged in the 3 bedroom dwelling residence.

They said her brother would have been crushed if he was in that room. “Good thing we were at funeral”.

When asked how she felt about the situation, Mrs. Frederick said: “I feel sad, but I have to be grateful that we have life. It’s a very scary situation”.

She said she received the call about the incident while viewing her brother’s dead body in the casket. She said since last week “her head wasn’t feeling right”.

Meanwhile, Osborne Frederick, her husband, was visibly shaken and could not comment on the situation at the time.

They are covering the house temporarily from natural elements. The family members say they are thanking God for his mercies.
