Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves has extended congratulations to the President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolas Maduro, the Agency for Public Information (API) announced today (July 29).
President Maduro was re-elected on Sunday for a third consecutive term in office following presidential elections in Venezuela in which he secured 51.2 percent of the votes cast.
Dr. Gonsalves said it has been adjudged by Independent Observers now and in the past that the electoral process there is” free, fair and transparent,” the API said.

“…the reality on the ground is that Nicolas Maduro and the Bolivarian revolution have the support of the people of Venezuela and that is expressed yet again in this electoral victory,” Dr. Gonsalves said, according to the API.
The Prime Minister gave the congratulatory remarks this morning, as he arrived at the Radisson Hotel in Grenada, for the first session of the Caricom Heads of Government Conference, the API said.
St. Vincent and the Grenadines and the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela share close diplomatic and people-to-people relations.

St. Vincent’s left-leaning government and CARICOM have repeatedly promoted non-interference in the affairs of Venezuela, and Venezuela has supported trade, especially in petroleum to several CARICOM states.
Mr. Maduro will be sworn in for the six-year term (2025-2031) in January 2025.
