3 Arrested and charged with beating woman in Layou, police say

Police say that on August 8, 2024, they arrested and jointly charged three people for allegedly beating a woman in Layou.

In an August 12 press release, the Royal St. Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force (RSVGPF) said they arrested and charged Alex Lewis, a 32-year-old Electrician, Naomi Commissiong, a 26-year-old sales clerk, and Bridget Commissiong, a 49-year- old teacher all of Layou with the offence of Assault.

“The investigation revealed that the accused persons allegedly assaulted, a 24-year-old Domestic of Layou by beating her about her body with their hands and sticks causing Actual Bodily Harm,” police said in the release.

Police say the offence was committed in Layou on May 25, 2022. 

The Trio is expected to appear before the Kingstown MagistrateCourt to answer the charge, police said.

In our jurisprudence, a person who is charged with an offense is innocent until proven guilty.
