Several primary schools across the country will not open for classes on September 2, 2024, the start of the 2024/2025 academic year.
According to information from the Ministry of Education and National Reconciliation released on Thursday night, 10 primary schools will not open on Monday, September 2.
The Ministry said the Kingstown Preparatory School will open for the new school term on Wednesday, September 4.
Seven primary schools will reopen on Monday, September 9. They are the Calder Government School, Canouan Government School, Mary Hutchinson Primary School (mainland location), Lodge Village Government School, Lower Bay Inc., Sion Hill Government School, and the Stephanie Browne Primary School (mainland location).

Two primary schools will also open the following week, Monday, September 16. They are the Mayreau Government School and the Paget Farm Government School.
All other primary schools will open on Monday, September 2, 2024, the Ministry of Education and National Reconciliation said.
The Ministry has referred to the move as a phased opening.
Several schools were used as emergency shelters while others were damaged and in need of repair after the passage of Hurricane Beryl on July 1.
The ministry also released the names of secondary schools and technical institutes that will not be reopened on September 2.
