The St. Vincent Electricity Services Limited (VINLEC) says it is currently experiencing a system failure due to the loss of a station service transformer at one of our main power plants.

“This transformer plays an essential role in supporting the power station, and its failure has impacted our ability to deliver power to areas across mainland, St. Vincent,” this company said in a press release.

“We assure all customers that our dedicated teams are working quickly to replace the damaged equipment and restore power as soon as possible,” the sole commercial supplier of electricity in St. Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) said.

“We understand the inconvenience this may cause and sincerely apologize for any disruptions. We appreciate your patience during this time and will provide more updates as more information becomes available,” the company said.

In June 2024, the company recorded its second consecutive islandwide power outage for 2024.
