Police release Post-Mortem results for children who died in Georgetown fire

The Royal Saint Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force (RSVGPF), in an update, has provided the post-mortem results for the two children who died in a fire in Georgetown on October 23.

Police say a post-mortem examination was conducted earlier today, Friday, October 25, 2024.

The examination determined that the deceased, a 1-year-old male and a 3-year-old female, died as a result of thermal injury with charring.

The RSVGPF said it continues its investigations into the circumstances surrounding this tragic incident.

“We once again extend our deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of the victims during this difficult time,” police said.

“Anyone with additional information that may assist with the investigation is encouraged to come forward,” the release added.

On Wednesday, October 23, the Royal Saint Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force (RSVGPF) said it was actively investigating the circumstances surrounding a tragic fire that occurred at approximately 12:00 PM in Georgetown.

In an October 23 press release, the RSVGPF said: “Preliminary reports indicate that two young children tragically lost their lives in the incident”. 

“Fire personnel, along with police officers, responded swiftly to the scene to combat the blaze and secure the area,” police said.
