BREAKING: AIA has resumed operations at its aerodrome

By Admin. Updated 9:35 p.m., Monday, January 20, 2025, Atlantic Standard Time (GMT-4).

The Argyle International Airport announced Monday night that its operations at its aerodrome have resumed.

The announcement came after the airport announced it has temporarily closed its aerodrome after an American Airlines aircraft experienced an incident shortly after landing at 4:40 p.m. on Monday.

Two of the aircraft’s tires burst upon impact with the runway while landing.

Some 91 passengers aboard the aircraft on flight AA909 were safely removed from the aircraft.

Several flights were diverted to neighbouring islands after the incident. They include Virgin Atlantic’s VS197 which had to return to Barbados after coming from Heathrow International Airport in England.

The aircraft has since been safely towed off the runway.
