In December 2023, Mr. Lesroy Lewis of Villa, borrowed a $40,000 loan from Republic Bank to assist his mother and other family members with some home repairs. Just over a year later, as he and his wife were moving into a new home, he won $10,000 to shop at Courts for furniture and appliances.
Mr. Lewis, 36, an ex-police officer, said he was “shell shocked” upon receiving the news.
“My loans officer Darren at Republic Bank called me. I was wondering why he was calling because I was up to date with my payments. He said, ‘Well, I just want to share some good news,’” Mr. Lewis told One News SVG.
He mentioned that he and his wife visited Courts St. Vincent Ltd on Wednesday (February 12) and selected the items after winning the shopping spree from Republic Bank.
“My wife and I sat and brainstormed. We just recently moved into our home. We were getting ready to move into home at the time of the news, so we thought carefully about what to get,” Mr. Lewis told One News SVG.
“So, we decided to get an air conditioning unit, a dining set , a TV, and some other items.”
He and his wife Maurissa Lewis tied the knot last year.
At a handing over ceremony on Saturday (February 15) at Courts’ store in Kingstown, Mr. Lewis thanked Republic Bank representative who were present, including Country Manager – Mr. Gregory Bardouille and Marketing Officer of Unicomer (Courts) – Ms. Lisa Veira for their support in the process.
Meanwhile Republic Bank’s Country Manager – Mr. Gregory Bardouille congratulated Mr. Lewis and revealed that Mr. Lewis was a regional winner of the Christmas promotion.
Ms. Lisa Veira, Marketing Officer at Unicomer (Courts) also congratulated Mr. Lewis and expressed Courts’ pleasure to be able to facilitate the process.
