Current member of Parliament For South Central Windward Saboto Caesar has expressed condolences to the family of former MP for the area Mr. Allan Cruickshank.
Mr. Cruickshank died today (March 1) at the Milton Caton Memorial Hospital at the age of 73. He died after battling a period of illness.
In a Facebook post, Mr. Caesar said:
“It is with great sadness that I pause to express my sympathy to the family of the late Allan Cruickshank. It was heartbreaking to learn early this morning of his passing on the page of his son Allanson Cruickshank”.
“He was a next door neighbour, a well-wisher and a genuine source of friendship. He will always be family! Our small closely knitted village of Sans Souci will never be the same without you”.
“Over the last week and a half we interacted. Thanks for the words of encouragement you offered me since I was a child and up to when we last spoke just days ago. May your soul rest in eternal peace,” the post added.
Mr. Caesar, who was first elected as a member of parliament for the area in 2010 is representing the ruling Unity Labour Party while Mr. Cruickshank who served in parliament from 1984 to 2001 represented the New Democratic Party (NDP).
According to the House of Assembly’s website, Mr. Cruickshank served as a minister of government and member of parliament for South Central Windward from 1984 to 2001, representing the New Democratic Party (NDP).
He served as Minister of Education and Health: from 23rd of August 1984 to the 30th of May 1985. Then, Minister of Education from the 30th of July 1985 to the 26th of June 1986, then as Minister of Communications and Works from the 23rd of October 1986 to the 23rd of March 1989.

He was also the Minister of Agriculture, Industry and Labour from the 13th of June 1989 to the 16th of December 1994, after which he served as Minister of Agriculture and Labour from the 26th of January 1995 to the 18th of December 1997.
His final stint as a government minister was as Minister of Foreign Affairs, Tourism and Information from the 12th of February 1998 to the 11th of January 2001.
Mr. Cruickshank also served as the General Secretary of the New Democratic Party (NDP).
