The Assistant Commissioner of Police in charge of crime within the Royal St. Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force (RSVGPF), Mr. Trevor Bailey, has said the organisation is prepared to seek forensic assistance from its regional and international partners in response to the triple homicide in Belmont on 16 May.
Responding to a question from One News SVG at a press conference on 17 May, Mr Bailey said the investigation is in its “infancy stage”.
He added, “Once a need arises where we have to engage in forensic analysis,” the RSVGPF will have to seek the assistance of our regional and international partners because we do not have a lab locally at our disposal.”
“So, yes, if the need arises, we will. At this stage, we are already into the investigation, and there is no need for us to make a request today or tomorrow,” Mr Bailey said.

“But who knows what Tuesday may unfold. If on Tuesday morning there is a need for that request, the request will be made and the assistance will be sought,” he added.
On 16 May, three individuals were shot dead at a shop in Belmont after masked men entered the business and indiscriminately opened fire, police said.
The business was operated by one of the victims, Ms Leslyn Davis. The other two victims present at the shop at the time of the incident were Demeon Cumberbatch and Joel Browne.
Two other individuals, including a seven-year-old child, were injured in the incident and hospitalised, but one of them was treated and discharged, police said.
Police stated that there is currently no indication that the incident was a robbery.
The incident has left the nation in a state of shock.
