Anya Attains Eleven Awards at Canouan Secondary Graduation

Ms Anya Allen, aged 16, distinguished herself by securing eleven (11) awards at the recent Canouan Secondary School graduation ceremony.

Ms Allen was one of nineteen students who graduated from the institution on Wednesday, 18th June, at the New Testament Church of God, Canouan, under the theme: “Reach for the world, the opportunity is in your hands.”

She received subject awards in Technical Drawing, Social Studies, English A, Information Technology, Physical Education, Principles of Accounts, and Geography.

In addition, Ms Allen was the recipient of the Principal’s Award, Sportsperson of the Year, the Valedictorian Award, and the Leadership Award.

Other awardees included Ms Tianna Lewis ego received the Principles of Business Award, Ms. Teddisha Snagg who was awarded for EDPM, Human and Social Biology, and Most Improved Student, Ms. Dellicia King and ho was awarded for Mathematics and Spanish, Ms. Shi-Ann King who was awarded for Biology, Mr. Aron Jack who was was awarded for Visual Arts, and Ms. Tatiana Francis who was awarded for Food and Resource Management – FRM and and Food, Nutrition and Health – FNH.

The Canouan Secondary School was established on 2nd September 2019.

During a brief ceremony held at the school’s temporary location in 2019, the Parliamentary Representative for the Southern Grenadines, Mr Ollivierre, described the occasion as “a very emotional time” for him. He noted that, for years, the people of Canouan had been “struggling and pleading for this to happen,” according to the Ministry of Education’s website.

“He urged the parents to support the children to ensure that the school could be ranked among the best in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines in the future. He also thanked the government and the investors for making this dream a reality,” the Ministry’s website states.
