The Hairouna Film Fellowship has officially launched its inaugural fictional short film program.

This initiative is designed specifically for Vincentians interested in fiction short film making to support emerging talent in narrative storytelling.

The fellowship is designed to provide mentorship, creative development, and
production support to help bring original Vincentian stories to life.

The programme unfolds in two phases. Phase One, funded by the Creative Caribbean Grant through UNESCO, includes a three-day intensive scriptwriting residency in St. Vincent and the Grenadines. Five selected participants will receive personalised mentorship from a renowned Caribbean filmmaker, working closely with peers and industry professionals to refine their short film scripts.

Phase Two, supported by the Caribbean Culture Fund, will allow fellows one additional week to polish their scripts. At the end of this stage, one script will be selected to receive a $15,000 XCD production grant, along with full production support. The chosen project will enter pre-production by the end of August, with filming expected to take place in September and completion slated for November 2025.

Applications are now open and will close on August 2, 2025. The call is open to Vincentian nationals aged 18 and over with a fiction short film script of no more than 15 pages. Submissions must be made through the Fellowship’s website: http://www.hairounaff.org. Interested applicants are strongly encouraged to review the eligibility criteria and terms listed online before applying.

The Hairouna Film Fellowship is seen as a bold and necessary step in fostering local filmmaking talent, aiming to create space for Vincentian storytellers to thrive with the tools, funding, and mentorship they need to succeed.
