The St Vincent and the Grenadines Coast Guard Service launched its annual Youth Development Summer Programme on Monday, 14 July 2025, at the Calliaqua Town Hall.

The theme for this year’s programme is “Shaping Our Youths for Life’s High Seas.”

The Coast Guard Service stated that the aim of the programme is to help young participants learn to navigate the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead with confidence, responsibility, and resilience.

Fifty (50) participants will engage in a series of workshops and courses designed to equip them with essential life skills.

These include First Aid training, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), Fundamentals of Maritime Navigation, Boat Handling, Fisheries Conservation, Human Sexuality Education, Conflict Resolution workshops, and Professional Etiquette sessions.

Petty Officer Sasha Martin of the St Vincent and the Grenadines Coast Guard Service noted that participants are expected to uphold a high standard of discipline, respect, and responsibility throughout the duration of the programme.

This year’s summer initiative is sponsored by the Bank of St Vincent and the Grenadines (BOSVG), Sagicor Life, and the SVG Port Authority.

The Bank of St Vincent and the Grenadines (BOSVG) made a donation of six thousand dollars ($6,000.00) to the Coast Guard Youth Development Summer Programme, while the SVG Port Authority contributed three thousand dollars ($3,000.00).
