A three-member delegation represented Saint Vincent and the Grenadines at a recently concluded high-level workshop on climate-resilient water governance hosted by the Global Water Partnership-Caribbean (GWP-C) in collaboration with the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP).
The two-day workshop, held from July 9–10, 2025, in Grenada, focused on Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) for Caribbean Small Island Developing States (SIDS). It brought together technical specialists and officers from six countries working across sectors such as water governance, agriculture, tourism, and health.
The event, themed “Leveraging Sustainable Development Goal 6 (SDG 6) for Accelerated Water Investments in Caribbean SIDS,” aimed to build IWRM capacity and strengthen regional collaboration. A strong emphasis was placed on country-led action, finance planning, and investment strategies to support sustainable and climate-resilient water systems.

Discussions also explored how freshwater and marine governance connect, with focus areas including pollution control and SDG 6 monitoring.
Representing the Ministry of Tourism, Civil Aviation, Sustainable Development, and Culture were Director of Tourism Faylene King and Superintendent of Marine and Terrestrial Parks Kevin Providence. Senior Engineer Jonathan Francis represented the Central Water and Sewerage Authority (CWSA).
As part of the process, the Vincentian team reviewed national IWRM survey scores to assess progress and priorities. They also contributed to a mini action plan shaped by regional insights and local needs.
The workshop supports ongoing efforts across the Caribbean to implement national IWRM plans by 2030, in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (UN SDG) Indicator 6.5.1, which promotes the sustainable management of water resources at all levels.
