The National Public Library has launched its summer programme CLAP: for fun, set to begin in July under the theme Libraries: your gateway to adventure.

Designed to promote literacy, creativity, and cultural awareness among children aged 5 to 13 years, the three-week-long programme features a wide range of interactive activities, including storytelling, reading challenges, arts and crafts, music, drama, cultural heritage sessions, and sporting events, among others. The activities are all tailored to stimulate young minds and foster a love for reading and learning.

The programme is set to run from 21 July to 8 August at the National Public Library, hosting sixty-six (66) children. However, it will also be offered at various branch libraries across the country during the summer break, accommodating ninety-five (95) participants.

The annual nationwide programme is a dynamic and engaging initiative organised by the National Public Library, Archives and Documentation Services (NPLADS).

It is often supported by a network of library staff, volunteers, and community partners, and remains a cornerstone of NPLADS’ commitment to childhood development, education, and community engagement.
