The Emancipation Cricket Festival presents, Asif Hooper, local marquee player, Windward Warriors.
Bald and bearded with full side-burns, Asif looks like a prophet, like someone who always has something wise to say. It therefore made sense that he was recently announced as captain of SVG’s national limited overs team. Right?
Asif’s physical appearance of wisdom is not only apparent, it is real. He is an intelligent cricketer and talented too, a bowling all-rounder who is exciting with the bat.
Asif bowls left-arm spin with control and capricious guile, which can qualify him as a surprise new ball option in T20 format. He is an agile fielder, elegant and powerful in the typical trope of left-handed batters. He made his List A debut in the Super 50 Cup with Windward Volcanoes in 2024 and he is now set to debut with another Windward outfit, Windward Warriors in the Emancipation Cricket Festival.
He may look like a prophet, but I assure you, he is capable of disturbing the peace with his bat, even at the top of the order as a pinch-hitter. This devout-looking Windward Warrior is capable of baptisms of fire!

July 31-August 3, Arnos Vale stadium, St. Vincent and the Grenadines
The matches
The matches will begin on Thursday, July 31st, 2025 when Leeward Lions will face Kingstown Kings at 7:00 p.m.
Then, on Friday, August 1, Emancipation Day, Stubbs Masters will face SVG Hairouners at 3:30 p.m., and Grenadines Whalers will face Windward Warriors at 7:00 p.m.
On Saturday, August 2, there will be the third-place play-offs at 7:00 p.m, then on Sunday, August 3rd, Northern Girls will face Southern Girls at 3:30 p.m.
Then the finals which will be between Game 1 and Game 2 winners will take place at 7:00 p.m.
All matches will be held at the Arnos Vale Stadium.
