The 2025 Vincymas season will officially conclude with a final major celebration at the tarmac of the decommissioned E.T. Joshua Airport in Arnos Vale. This event is scheduled to take place on 31 July.

Following the conclusion of the official Vincymas 2025 festivities, Chief Executive Officer of the Carnival Development Corporation (CDC), Mr Rodney Small, suggested the possibility of this additional event.

On Saturday, 26 July, Mr Small confirmed to One News SVG that the event will proceed as planned, serving as a prelude to the Emancipation Cricket Festival.

The Emancipation Cricket Festival which will be held at the Arnos Vale Stadium begins on July 31 and ends on August 3.

Mr. Small has encouraged attendees to wear their Carnival costumes and Monday Band T-shirts at the Last Lap which will begin at 6:00 p.m., then the first cricket match at the stadium next door will begin at 7:00 p.m.

“The last lap idea was something that we’ve been playing with and thinking about for the Vincymas brand after having such a marvellous Vincymas 2025, and we were looking at a particular date, but we wanted a date that would make sense and have some significance,” Mr Small told One News SVG.

He continued, “So after we met with the Emancipation Cricket Festival Committee and with the Minister of Culture in forming a collaboration with pushing the entertainment aspect of the cricket because there’s no cricket without entertainment historically. So we found it fit that for the opening of the festival, which is on Thursday, why not we do something of this nature that would usher people into the stadium.”

He clarified that the event is not just a ‘jump up’ but essentially a ‘park and walk’, ‘park and jam’, or ‘park and jump’ experience. The intention is to gather participants in the car park, where they will dance to lively Vinci music as they make their way into the stadium to enjoy the cricket matches for Emancipation Month.

Mr Small further explained, “Also, the idea is to preserve our Carnival Monday T-shirts and our Carnival Tuesday costumes. So we are asking persons to put them back on and let’s have this final jump as we celebrate Emancipation Month, as we celebrate the Emancipation Cricket and head into the stadium to enjoy some wonderful cricket, while we continue the celebration of some true Vincentian culture and sports.”
