BREAKING: 1 dead, another rushed to hospital after accident at Gorse

One woman has died and another person has been rushed to hospital following an accident in which a vehicle went over an embankment at Gorse in North Central Windward.

The accident occurred this evening, 1 August.

The vehicle’s number plate is reportedly PL 804.

The deceased woman is said to be from the North Windward community of Owia and has connections to Sandy Bay. She has been identified as Annette Huggins and is reportedly related to Normanie Duncan, a young man who died in a car accident in the same area earlier this year.

The vehicle was travelling northbound from the Colonarie Stretch towards Gorse when the driver reportedly lost control.

Police and Fire Department personnel from the Georgetown Police Station arrived at the scene, where they secured and preserved the area.

Second road fatality in Gorse area for 2025

Tonight’s incident marks the second road fatality in the Gorse area in 2025.

On Sunday, 2 February 2025, a motor vehicle collision claimed the life of Normanie Duncan, a young man from Owia, St. Vincent, who had returned to the country in December 2024.

Mr Duncan, who was a passenger in the vehicle, died at the scene after the car reportedly veered off the road and plunged down an embankment.
