Vermont Our Place United (VOPU) hosted its annual Summer Camp under the theme “A Chosen Generation: Shining Brightly, Creating New Pathways” from July 28 to August 14, 2025, at the local community center, equipping children aged 5-16 with moral values and skills, and giving them a fun and safe space to learn and connect with their community. This was achieved through structured activities with community support and volunteers.
Over a period of three weeks, participants were engaged in a wide variety of activities, including devotionals, moral lessons, arts and crafts, math and literacy sessions, hospitality skills, and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in plumbing and electrical work.

A cultural program, culinary workshops, and a field trip to Prospect Mangrove Recreational Park added to the excitement.
The camp received strong support from the community along with 21 volunteers and staff assisting in daily operations.
Children enjoyed hands-on learning in crochet, cake decorating, plumbing, and electrical wiring while also strengthening literacy and numeracy skills.
An exhibition and closing ceremony held on August 14 showcased the talents and projects developed throughout the program.

Despite challenges with space, resources, and funding, the camp was hailed as a success by participants, parents, and community members.
Children expressed excitement about new friendships, personal growth, and practical skills gained.
Mrs. Hetlyn Francis, president of the VOPU, expresses gratitude to the sponsors, facilitators, and volunteers for making the program a success.
