Sapper (Spr.) Morani Porter, a Vincentian serving in the British Army, will undertake an 80 km charity walk across St. Vincent to help five young recruits begin their journey in the British Army.
The initiative, titled “Operation Walk for the Future,” will start in Fancy and end in Richmond on 23 August 2025. Porter aims to complete the journey within 24 hours while carrying a 10 kg backpack.
The walk seeks to raise funds for five Commonwealth recruits from St. Vincent and the Grenadines. Proceeds will cover airfare to the United Kingdom, where the recruits will begin their service.

“This walk is about more than just raising money,” Porter said. “It’s about showing resilience, discipline, and community spirit — reminding us that with support, no obstacle is too great to overcome.”
The walk will commence at 3:00 a.m. in Fancy and pass through several communities before finishing in Richmond. Members of the public are encouraged to support Porter along the route or contribute to the cause.
