Seventeen local archers competed over two days in the 2025 National Outdoor Championships at the National Archery Range in Belair, with seven set to represent SVG at the upcoming Caribbean Development Championships in Trinidad.

The Archery Association of St. Vincent & the Grenadines (SVG) successfully hosted the third edition of the championships on 16 and 17 August, showcasing the talents of many local Vincy archers as they competed in five divisions.

The event opened with remarks from Mr Jomodean May of the Division of Sports and Physical Activity, who remarked that the sport was once a way of life for the nation’s ancestors.

The championships comprised two days of competition: the qualifying rounds on Day 1 and the elimination rounds on Day 2. Archers competed in five divisions: Recurve Male Development 50 metres (RM50), Recurve Female Development 50 metres (RW50), Recurve Male Beginner 30 metres (RM30), Barebow Mixed 30 metres (BX30), and Barebow Extraordinary Beginner 15 metres (BX15).

After two days of competition, winners emerged across all five divisions. In the Recurve Male 50m (RM50), Rayon Clarke claimed gold ahead of Ian Gibson, while Marese Burgin topped the Recurve Female 50m (RW50) division, with Divya Jiandani and Richol Richards taking silver and bronze. Other standout winners included Tristan Ballah in the Recurve Male Beginner 30m, Prince John in the Barebow Mixed 30m, and Daijon Chance in the Barebow Extraordinary Beginner 15m.

The national archery team is now preparing to travel to Trinidad & Tobago for the upcoming World Archery Americas 2025 Caribbean Development Championships in October. A team of seven archers will compete in three categories with hopes of capturing more championship medals.

The executive and members of the Archery Association of SVG congratulated all medalists and expressed anticipation for the continued growth of the sport.

The Archery Association extended thanks to event officials, supporters, and the National Lotteries Authority for providing tents and chairs for the event.
