Sapper (Spr.) Moraine Porter, a Vincentian serving in the UK Army, will host a mock military training program in St. Vincent to prepare aspiring recruits for service and build awareness for youth development initiatives.
The training is expected to benefit Vincentians who are considering a career in the UK military by giving them a head start in building confidence, resilience, and physical readiness.
The mock assessment is primarily for those who have an assessment date already or nearing that point.
The exercise will stimulate the discipline, endurance, and mental strength required to succeed in the British military selection process.
Spr. Porter recently completed a grueling 91.19-kilometer charity walk across St.Vincent to raise awareness and support for youth development and military recruits.
Mr. Porter said that his mission is not just about raising funds but also about opening doors for others.

Mr. Porter says that so far they have raised a total of XCD $5042.57 here in St. Vincent and £1425.00 in British Pounds on the Giving page.
“Although we have made progress, we have not yet reached our goal of raising £5,000. We continue to urge the public to support this cause by making donations through our JustGiving page or via the Red Cross,” Mr. Porter said.
“We are also calling on institutions, organisations, community groups, individuals, and private businesses to partner with us. Your contributions will help us achieve our target and make a real difference. Every donation, big or small, brings us one step closer to our goal. Together, we can make this possible,” Mr. Porter added.
Mr. Porter also expressed his gratitude to the Vincentian public for their support.
He said:
I wish to extend my profound gratitude to the people of St. Vincent and the Grenadines, as well as to supporters overseas, for the tremendous outpouring of encouragement and assistance given to this initiative.
Whether through financial contributions, donating supplies such as water, participating in the walk, lending a hand in planning, or simply by sharing and promoting the cause online, every gesture—large or small—played a vital role in making this effort a success.
Your generosity and unity have not only made this initiative possible but have also demonstrated the power of community in action. I am deeply humbled and sincerely thankful for the support received.
This is only the beginning. We are committed to returning next year with an even greater undertaking, one that will continue to uplift and create opportunities for others, he added.
