Police say they have arrested and charged Winston Lewis, a 62-year-old mason of Chauncey/Redemption Sharpes, with the offence of Murder in connection with the death of Sharon Elizabeth Ashton.

In a September 12 press release, the Saint Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force (RSVGPF) described the development as “a significant breakthrough in its investigation into the death of Sharon Elizabeth Ashton, a 42-year-old resident of Long Wall, Kingstown, which occurred in Long Wall on September 9, 2025.”

The accused was arrested and charged on September 11, 2025.

Police say they were earlier alerted to the discovery of a woman in the Long Wall area; officers responded, found her unresponsive with apparent injuries, secured the scene, and coordinated medical attendance, where she was subsequently pronounced deceased.

Lewis appeared before the Mesopotamia Magistrate’s Court on September 12, 2025, for arraignment. Due to the indictable nature of the charge, he was not required to enter a plea. He was remanded into custody pending a Preliminary Inquiry into the matter, police said.

The investigation is ongoing, and the RSVGPF said it appeals to anyone with information that may assist with this matter to contact the Police.

People can contact the police at Police Emergency: 999 / 911, Police Control: (784) 457-1211, Major Crimes Unit: (784) 457-1211 Ext., and the Criminal Investigations Department (CID): (784) 456-1810.

The RSVGPF said it extends its condolences to the family and friends of the deceased during this difficult time.
